Solas’ story…

Solas Burke-Lalgee, a Bay Area native was nurtured by an art-based family. He attended the School of the Arts- San Francisco, Oakland Youth Chorus, and graduated from the Berklee College of Music in Boston. Early on in his career he received a Presidential Scholar of the Arts Award and was the recipient of several awards by the Society of Singers, The GRAMMY Foundation, and Young Arts Program.

In the years since Lalgee’s credits include performing with Alvin Ailey Dance Theater, West Coast Opera, Oakland Symphony, Jazz Mafia, David James, Goapele, Ledisi, Zendaya Coleman, Mooncandy Live House Music Ensemble, Jennifer Johns, Valerie Troutt, Nicole Klaymoon, and The Embodiment Project, his own band Elephantine, and has worked as a vocal arranger and composer, a commercial voice over artist, and aspires to be an advocate and resource specialist to the world of voice.

As a Vocal Instructor, Lalgee has enjoyed working with singers of all ages to help find their true voice. After being an instructor at the Oakland School for the arts for more than 10 years and teaching at large of 20 years, his pride in work stems from helping others to reach greater creative echelons and in ever aspiring artists of all facets.
